Hi Dechcaudron,

Yes, only the files in Editor need to be updated, generated files should be fine. And yes, the plug-in and package will be updated automatically should there be a newer version :)

Happy coding,

Hi Dechcaudron,

Thank you for reporting this, it seems that the target framework for the updater was .NET 4.5 when it was built, which caused the problem. We've made it .NET 3.5 and now everything should be OK. You can download the plug-in from Developers page

Thanks again,

Hello to all the coders out there!

We have updated our Unity™ Plug-in and package. Now the extension of the package is .gccpkg this way you are not likely to have issues with anti-virus programs as was the case with the old .bin extension. We also added an auto-updater to the plug-in to make it easy for you to update it when needed.

The new plug-in is available for download @ http://www.game-cloud.org/developers.html

If you have any issues with the plug-in and it's operation, please do not hesitate to contact us trough the contact form or here, in the forum!

Happy coding,

Hi Dechcaudron,

All you need to do is change the connection string in app.config and it should work fine. Are you sure, you're inputting the correct information there? Maybe you have the host or port wrong, or something like that :) Also, check your firewall settings and make sure that PostgreSQL port is accessible.

Code hard,

Feature Suggestions / Re: New Game Files generator

Hi Dechcaudron,

As promised, we've made a generator that deploys only platform specific files. You can download it from here

From the drop-down menu you need to choose "Generate Only Server Files". This will deploy the Yemulator with a GameCore.cs inside which extends GameBase and ClientSideLib.dll in your Unity project.

Feature Suggestions / Re: Improve the documentation please!

Hi Dechcaudron,

Since you already have the data loaded into MemoryStream and a BinaryReader attached to it, you need to instantiate an object from your class, and then call Deserialize on that object with the BinaryReader and a short command (if it applies) as parameters:

Code: [Select]
YourIGameCommandClass someObject = new YourIGameCommandClass();
someObject.Deserialize(theBinaryReader, someShortCommand);

Hi Dechcaudron,

We'll take your suggestion into account and will prepare a file generator that will deploy only platform specific files without any demo game related code.

Thanks,

Hi Dechcaudron,

One of the ways you can do that is by using our SerializationManager, you don't need to include any references when using it. The object must inherit from IGameCommand, then you can call Serialize on it, write the serialized content into MemoryStream and flush the byte array in the database. Just beware that if changes are made to the object subsequently, the data stored will be broken/lost.

Other methods you can use are JSON/XML/Binary serialization, but you'll need to include references and/or third party libraries.

We are thinking of implementing JSON serialization in future, just to cope with that matter, but for the time being we recommend using the SerializationManager.

Hi Dechcaudron,

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, it seems that the table itself needs to have the owner set to the newly created role. Of course, we'll try to make this as easy to deploy to Mac users as possible. Thank you very much for reporting this issues!

If you have any questions regarding the emulator and its operation, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Also, when you have the time, please share your thoughts about the emulator with us, your feedback is much appreciated!

Hi Dechcaudron,

Thanks for pointing that out. Have you tried to remove the one that is in the project references (which is being used by Xamarin) and leave only the one you add after opening the solution?

Hi Dechcaudron,

Are you sure you've added the references as specified in step 8 from Getting Started, the Mono.Security.dll and Npgsql.dll ?

We tried to reproduce the error and it occurred if we didn't add the references. Once we added them everything runs at it's supposed to.

News / New Version of Game Cloud Emulator
« on: February 19, 2014, 03:56:46 PM »
Dear All,

We have updated our Emulator and Unity® Plug-in to a newer version.

The new version of the plug-in will install PostgreSQL for you if you are using Windows and don't have it installed already. Also it will restore the database and create the role for you, so the deployment is as easy as possible.

We fixed minor bugs in the emulator and made some improvements regarding performance and stability.

The new version is available for download @ http://www.game-cloud.org/developers.html
You can find the Documentation, How-to and Getting Started @ http://www.game-cloud.org/docs.php

Happy coding,
The GCC Team
